The Supreme Court of the Philippines continues to share its Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027 (SPJI) to the stakeholders of the Judiciarythis time to the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) during the FFCCCII’s 33rd Biennial Convention held at East Ocean Palace Restaurant in Paranaque City on March 23, 2023.

Speaking as guest of honor, Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo recognized the contributions of the Filipino-Chinese community to the growth and development of nation.

“Over the years, you have played an important role in shaping our nation, through the economy, arts, and culture,” said the Chief Justice. “You have brought your own unique customs and traditions while embracing our local culture, language, and way of life. We have shared the same hopes and dreams, the same fears and anxieties, and the same love for our country.”

He added: “Truly, you have shown that being Filipino is not about origin or ethnicity, nor about language or religion; it is about having shared values, a love for country, and a commitment to its betterment.”

Chief Justice Gesmundo said that the Filipino-Chinese have not only reached the pinnacle of political power, but also enjoyed continuing eminence in business and commerce in the country. “Their success can be attributed to their resilience, perseverance, adaptability, and unity- qualities shaped by a distinct history which created their unique cultural identity,” he added. Such qualities, said the Chief Justice, have allowed the FFCCCII to gather for its biennial convention and will propel the nation to move forward towards progress and prosperity.

The Chief Justice shared that the Philippine Judiciary, in pursuit of the same goals for the nation as that of FFCCCII, has launched the SPJI as “a plan to review and assess the organizational structure and operations of the various offices of the judiciary, and to develop and establish its information and communications technology infrastructure.”

The Chief Justice said that the SPJI will set the groundwork for an ever-improving judiciary. By improving the judiciary’s ability to serve the public through increased efficiency, continuing innovation, and measures to ensure the accessibility of the courts to all, Chief Justice Gesmundo said that the Philippine Judiciary will better realize its duty of dispensing justice and safeguarding human and constitutional rights.

Joining Chief Justice Gesmundo were Associate Justice Rodil V. Zalameda, Associate Justice Jhosep Y. Lopez, and Associate Justice Jose Midas P. Marquez.
